● The visit of brother Steven Bai and brother Peter Yu

Brothers Steven Bai (Xinlai) and Peter Yu (Guixue), both of whom have been serving in the gospel work among Chinese scholars in
North America, were in town from March 1 to March 6, 2012, for fellowship with the churches of the Lower Mainland.

Although born in
China’s countryside, both were able to obtain their doctorate degrees and took on high-paying jobs in the U.S., becoming successful in their respective careers. When they were called by the Lord, they dropped their occupations and consecrated themselves to serve the Lord full-time. Through their service, many scholars have been gained during the past ten years. Among these scholars, some have gone to the full-time training; others have also consecrated to serve full-time.

On March 1, the two brothers had a fellowship meeting with the church in
Surrey. On March 2, they spoke to the college serving ones at a meeting in Vancouver. On March 3, morning and afternoon, they spent time with the church in Richmond. On March 4, the Lord’s day, brother Yu partook of the Lord’s table and had further fellowship with the church in Richmond, while brother Bai spent time with the church in Vancouver. On March 5, they were in Burnaby, and on March 6, both brothers came to Richmond again to give further words of encouragement for the practice of the vital groups.

Highlights of the two brothers’ fellowship:

* The proper church life is not a form of high social life, but it is a life of truly loving the Lord, loving God, and consecrating to God. It is a life of having God’s will (His economy) as the main hub in planning our human life. It is a life of the house of
Bethany, of Mary’s loving the Lord, Martha’s serving, and Lazarus’ testifying of resurrection. This life is the picture of the true church life. Today we are in the local churches, being built up and coordinated with the members of the Body to live the genuine church life as the testimony of Jesus.

* The brothers also encouraged the saints that for the sake of this kind of church life we need to open our homes to receive the gospel friends. In particular, we are targeting the young people on the college campuses who come from various parts of the world. We need to open our homes, supply them with spiritual and physical food, nourish and cherish them, to help them receive the Lord and gain full salvation. Then the church life will become the center of their lives so that the Lord can absolutely gain this young generation to fulfill God’s economy on earth. Many brothers and sisters were encouraged by the fellowship, and at least 20 saints consecrated themselves to take part in God’s move.

Brother Yu also shared that when he was first saved he was attracted by the Lord’s love to consecrate his material possessions. In offering for the new meeting hall in
Franklin Park, New Jersey, he shared on two portions of the scriptures:

1.
Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe to the storehouse that there may be food in My house; and prove Me … whether I will open to you the windows of heaven and pour out blessing for you until there is no room for it.”

2.     Haggai 1:4, “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled-up houses, while this house lies waste?”

He encouraged the saints in Richmond to offer more prayers and material possessions. He also announced the good news that the 2012 New Jersey Perfecting Training will be extended to five locations, the newest of which is in the Greater Vancouver area. The meeting hall in Richmond will be used for this extension training from August 2 to 5, 2012. Many saints were constrained through brother Yu’s speaking to remain in Richmond and cancel all other travel plans so they can be present at the scheduled training.

A small testimony

My name is Joshua Yeh. I was born into the church life in Taipei. I was baptized in a lake when I was in grade five and meeting with the church in Vancouver; I enjoy the church life very much. During high school I brought many of my friends to the young people gospel meeting in the church in Anaheim and a number of them received the Lord. Now I reside in Richmond BC and meet with the church here.
Life is not about gathering wealth nor seeking earthly fame. Life is about receiving God and gaining eternal life, to bring in the ultimate ending of the age. May we be the generation that brings in the new heaven and new earth. May the Lord bless you to see and gain God in the church life.
